My Spring Journey to See Old Friends
I recently returned from my annual spring visit to see my old friends the Saguaro Cactus and their magnificent blossoms. These guardians of the desert bloom for a short time as the summer heat approaches. Last year had me visiting to coincide with the “Super Moon,” the largest and brightest of the moons illuminating our beautiful blue planet.
This year I chose to visit while the moon is still building to be full, so once the moon set I could capture my new friend, the Milky Way. It was a wonderful time watching the Milky Way climb up into the sky and stay until the approaching sunrise chased away the magnificent background in the sky.
I will be announcing my “Photographing the Night Sky” workshops in July and August of 2013 this week. Watch for details as you can join me for a week of stars, star trails and Milky Way imagery!
Enjoy these images and I look forward to you joining me on either of my upcoming desert workshops, “Lightning and the Monsoon” or “Photographing the Night Sky!”
